Janet Jackson, Los Angeles, 2008

Both my friend and I have been waiting for this day for a long time. Finally we are going to see Janet Jackson live in concert. Prior the concert we went Santa Monica and West Hollywood for lunch and to do some shopping. Around 5:30pm we went back to the hotel to get ready for the concert. Both of us were very excited about the concert, which started at 8pm.

We took taxi and arrived at Staples Center around 7:30pm and there were lots of people arriving for the concert. I just love every single thing about concerts. It is such a great atmosphere. People are happy and excited. The concert was totally sold out. We had great seats. The best seats. First row on the Floor One. Yeah, we were like 2 feet from the stage. That was awesome. The floor One where we were was actually inside of the stage. There was a squared catwalk, so we were right in the middle. Janet was right in front of us, behind us, next to us, and that was great. Being in the front row is the best. Yeah, the music is laud but that’s the whole point. You really feel it. The sweat of Janet and her dancers were splashing all over us, but we didn’t mind. J

Concert started around 8:10pm and LL Cool J opened the concert. He was really good and got the audience on their feet. He performed for about 40 minutes or so. Janet came out at 9:30pm and finished her concert at 11:45pm. Yeah, full 2 hours and 15 minutes of great fun. I was on my feet the entire time, jumping, dancing and just having fun. Being in the front row is really great. She delivered a good performance and a great show. She performed 27 songs and had many costume changes – one costume change for like every other song.

This “Rock Witchu” tour is her first in seven years. I saw her life on Good Morning America earlier this year in New York. Yeah, I had to freeze in cold in a line for like 8 hours to get those special tickets, and it was worth it. This concert was great and all about control like her latest album says “Discipline”, and yes, she held a whip. It was really not shocking when she emerged for a little bondage since her songs invoke sex games. She, together with two of her dancers, pulled a guy from the audience. He was suspended midair as Janet teased him with very suggestive moves and soft core porn. The guy almost lost his control when she kissed him.

Of course Janet focused on executing tough moves and dances than on vocalizing. With her 9 dancers she did an excellent job. Her best friend for the last 10-12 years, choreographer, producer and dancer was also there. Well, I really enjoyed the concert and it was a good one. I love Janet. She is good and she could deliver. I am looking forward to other concerts of hers, and I will be definitely going. Below are some pictures and a video from the concert in LA.
